NAK’s 25 September update reports virus results for 15% of samples by the end of week 38, with downgrades in more than 28% of those cases. This is an interim Dutch seed-potato (Solanum tuberosum) certification signal, not evidence that the same share of the entire harvest is downgraded.

Why it matters

Buyers need lot-specific certification and delivery information. Early inspection results warrant follow-up, but do not establish an EU shortage, available certified tonnage or a market price.

Current situation

NAK says post-control began around two weeks later than the previous year. The first virus results cover only part of the sample flow. The reported downgrade share applies to cases with results, not to all Dutch seed-potato (Solanum tuberosum) production.

Evidence: CONFIRMED

Seed-market context

Keep certification class and lot availability separate from commodity-potato (Solanum tuberosum) supply. These official process figures do not measure stocks offered for sale. Extrapolating an EU shortage or attaching a market price would exceed the evidence.

Evidence: INSUFFICIENT

What to watch next

Watch the next NAK update for broader results and regional detail, then verify the certification status of the specific lot being purchased. Do not treat a provisional national process update as a guarantee of an individual delivery.
